Town Hall Meetings
Overview
The town hall meetings each are planned with a specific purpose in mind. Each will be unique and provide an opportunity for significant public involvement.
There are a couple of ways that the public can expect to get involved at the town hall. One of the most innovative and exciting ways will be the visual community survey (VCS). The VCS process will be occurring at Town Hall #1 on January 31, 2009. VCS allows participants to visualize how future land use and development regulations result in different visual character, including the look, shape and location of buildings, streets, and public open space.
Community Participation
The comprehensive planning process is made up of a series of steps that build on each other. The first step in the process is to conduct a baseline analysis. In this step, the city’s lead planning consultant is analyzing demographic data, conducting an existing land use survey, as well as examining housing conditions. The data and analysis will support future growth calculations as well as supporting the future land use requirements.
Possibly the most important step in the comprehensive planning process is the community participation. This step involves the gathering of public input by engaging residents and business owners in Burleson. A series of six town halls are planned to provide the public a way to get involved.
