Steering Committee Kick Off Meeting Powerpoint - Jan 12th 2009

The Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee kicked-off the Burleson comprehensive planning update on January 12, 2009, and wasted little time hammering out objectives, processes, schedules, visions, and strategies. Energy and excitement was apparent and Burleson’s fast growth was a main topic. Graphs and charts presented also illustrated the City’s changing population and trends, housing structures, land uses, and retail information and data. Visual Character Survey Results Powerpoint - Jan 31st 2009

At Town Hall Meeting #1 and after, citizen input through a visual character survey was collected and evaluated. The input has already and will continue to help answer questions for future decisions. In the survey, Burleson citizens made it known about what types of residential, non-residential, open/public spaces, and street and signage are either loved, liked, able to be lived with, or are simply unacceptable within Burleson. SH 174 Community Input Powerpoint - Feb 10th 2009

State Highway 174 through Burleson is heavily used and often the first viewed feature in the city. At the 174 Corridor Study, Community Input Meeting on February 10, 2009, Citizens viewed various types of residential and non-residential land uses. In groups, Citizens were then given large 174 Corridor maps and challenged to place “chips,” representing the various types of land uses, on the maps where they preferred the uses to be. The result was ten different group ideas, which have been and are being used to analyze and help put together a plan. SH 174 Steering Committee Powerpoint - March 26th 2009

The Steering Committee, which is composed of the P&Z commission and city council, enthusiastically heard and discussed community feedback from the comprehensive planning events and reports. At the meeting, held March 26, 2009, the committee viewed Visual Character Survey statistics, assessed 174 corridor characteristics, and discussed possible land uses, streetscapes, design guidelines, and landscaping.
